I have to make pesto without nuts because some people my family have tree nut allergies. Evidently when pesto is made without tree nuts, that it is called “pistou.” Pretty neat, huh? Pistou is similar to pesto, but its full of no nuts there, defining it as safe for the people with allergies within my family. Pesto is so versatile, one of the primary things I like about it. You may spread it on a bit of wheat or grain toast, rub it on chicken white meat (which is freaking amazing!), and a whole lot! Pesto noodles are actually one of several easiest lunches I make. It requires me lower than 20 min, of course, if I use basil from my garden, it hardly costs a thing. Basically, I just now boil the (whole wheat) noodles, blend up the pesto, and mix both the together and lunch is served. It’s literally that simple.

Because pesto browns really fast when subjected to air, I really like to freeze it if I’m defining it as prior to time. Luckily, it freezes very well! One way you can apply to freeze pesto is pour it into an ice cube tray, place plastic wrap outrageous and use it while in the freezer for a few hours. Enjoy!

  • 4 cups spinach
  • 2 cups basil
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/3 cup olive oil, plus 1 tablespoon


  1. Place the spinach, basil, garlic, garlic, lemon juice, parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper in a food processor or blender. Turn on the machine and blend for 30 seconds. Slowly stream in the olive oil while the machine is running. Process until smooth.
  2. Serve with pasta, veggies, chicken, fish, as a spread, etc. Store the pesto in a jar or container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. This pesto also freezes well. Enjoy!


Note-if you like a thinner pesto you can add a little more olive oil.
